So-called acquaintance beats man with own cane before stealing it 

A man was beaten with and robbed of his own cane by an acquaintance in crimes this week.

Church and 24th streets
11:20 p.m. Wednesday

A 29-year-old woman was robbed of her cellphone, police said. The teenaged suspect pusher her from behind, grabbed her phone and fled.

700 block of Gonzalez Drive
12:30 p.m. Wednesday

A 20-year-old man was spooked by an intruder in his home, police said. The man heard noises coming from his bedroom and saw the doorknob twisting. He shouted and the unknown prowler fled.

700 block of Ellis Street
3:10 a.m. Thursday

A man, 58, was beaten with his own cane by an acquaintance, police said. The 32-year-old thug knocked on victim’s door, grabbed the cane and struck the victim in the head several times before fleeing with cane.

Gonzalez Drive and Castelo Avenue
9:45 p.m. Wednesday

A 23-year-old woman was robbed of her cash, police said. The crook, a man in his 20s, simulated a gun in her back and demanded her cash before fleeing.
