Snow Patrol counts down to new album with bells and whistles 

Surely you’ve heard it on the radio in heavy rotation by now – Snow Patrol’s addictive new single “Called Out In The Dark,” a great little reminder that Gary Lightbody and co. are back in fine fighting form with a new album called “Fallen Empires” dropping on Jan. 12.

But there’s more.

Along with Lightbody’s garrulous blog, the band has just launched an actual Snow Patrol app so fans can tune in to exclusive in-studio video content surrounding the new disc, plus a slew of otherwise unpublished band concert photos.

And if you weren’t planning on picking up the latest issue of UK music magazine Q, you might want to reconsider. It comes with a special U2 tribute album, “AHK-toong Bay-bi,” on which Snow Patrol covers their “Mysterious Ways.” Others artists involved are equally renowned: like Patti Smith, The Killers, Jack White, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails.
