Smallest butterfly discovered in The City

North America's smallest butterfly, which grows to no more than half an inch in length, was spotted last month for the first time in San Francisco's Crissy Field marshlands, according to officials from the Presidio Trust. The Western Pygmy Blue butterfly was discovered during a butterfly survey of the Presidio. Though the butterflies have been found in salt marshes around San Francisco Bay, they had never before been spotted in that particular area, according to Presidio officials.
