Small business to discuss tax break

Mayor Gavin Newsom’s plan to offer a tax break to small businesses that are required to make per employee payments under the city’s heath care ordinance comes before the Small Business Commission on Monday.

Under the proposal, The City would offer a $2,000 payroll tax rebate to employers with 20 to 49 employees who can show they are complying with The City’s Health Care Security Ordinance.

The commission meets at 5:30 pm, at City Hall, in Room 400. The commission will also talk about Board of Supervisor President David Chiu’s legislation to eliminate some small business fees.
