Slack-key master returning to San Francisco

Makana, the slack-key guitarist, singer and songwriter, is returning to the City for two performances this Thursday, showcasing a range of genres including Hawaiian slack-key, bluegrass, celtic, open-tuning blues, folk and rock.

A protégé of the slack-key masters, Makana is considered the youngest living master of Hawaiian slack-key guitar and a pioneer in his own style of contemporary world rock. His music has been featured in major motion pictures and independent films, as well as environmental and educational documentaries.

Makana’s shows will be at Biscuits & Blues, at 401 Mason Street, on Thursday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Cover is $15, plus a two-drink minimum. For more information, call (415) 292-BLUES (2583) or visit www.biscuitsandblues.com.
