Six teens robbed at gunpoint by weed-seeking crook

Six teens were robbed in the Oceanview area Saturday morning by a gun-toting goon who first asked if they were selling weed, police said.

Four men and two women, all ranging in age from 18 to 19, were standing on the corner of Capitol Avenue and Broad Street around 12:30 a.m. after hanging out at the Minnie and Lovie Ward Recreational Center and Park, Sgt. Michael Andraychak said. The victims said they were waiting for the M-Oceanview Muni Metro line.

A man, described by police as aged 18 to 20 and wearing dark clothing, approached the group and asked them if they were selling weed, Andraychak said.

One of the victims said no and the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded their goods. The victims complied and the crook fled on foot.

The victims each lost their cellphone along with two MP3 players, a set of “valuable headphones,” two bags, keys, a watch, ID cards and some cash, Andraychak said.

The victims were shaken up a bit, Andraychak said, but no injuries were reported.

No arrest has been made.
