Six Dons pitchers combine to blank Bakersfield 

The USF baseball team earned its second shutout of the season with a 3-0 home victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond. The Dons (6-6) had eight hits, including four doubles, and six USF pitchers combined to limit the Roadrunners (5-6) to just five hits.

Senior right-hander Alex Kalogrides (1-0) earned his first win of the season, tossing three shutout innings. Senior right-hander Doug Murray earned the first save for USF on the year with a scoreless ninth.

Derek Poppert, Stephen Yarrow and Matt Chavez all drove in a run for the Dons, while Connor Bernatz and Chavez each collected a pair of hits.

USF and Bakersfield return to Benedetti today for the finale of a two-game series. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
