Sibling fight draws police crisis negotiators in Mission district

Police crisis negotiators were out in force at a Mission district residence Saturday in search of a potentially armed suspect who had allegedly pointed a gun at his sister during a brouhaha at another nearby home. What police found ultimately turned out to be a BB gun.

Police said the fight originated between the siblings in the 1300 block of Treat Avenue, where the suspect allegedly hit and then pointed a gun at his sister. The suspect, who has not yet been named, left the residence for another home in the 2900 block of Folsom Street, which the police tactical team raided after unsuccessful attempts to draw him outside.

After police couldn’t find the suspect inside, they found him hiding in the backyard of the home. Police arrested the suspect around 4 p.m. and later located the BB gun at the Treat Avenue residence. Witnesses had told police that the suspect entered the Folsom Street residence with “something in his hand.”

The suspect’s sister was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.
