Shop Talk: B of A is now Giants' 'official bank' 

Bank of America has extended its San Francisco Giants sponsorship, a marketing effort that allows the bank to brand itself as the "Official Bank" of the team. Under a new agreement, the bank may use the team’s marks on its affinity credit and debit card marketing and advertising through 2010. The license includes intellectual property rights, tickets, in-stadium hospitality, onsite advertising and tabling. It further allows promotion of a rewards program where users can exchange points for Giants memorabilia, merchandise, tickets and unusual experiences, such as being a groundskeeper for a game day or dining with a Giants alumni.


Safeway launches Easter Seals campaign

Safeway Stores Inc. (SWY) is participating in a month-long marketing effort through April to raise funds for programs helping the disabled. It hopes to raise $5 million through checkout-line donations for the Easter Seals campaign, the firm said in a release. Locally, the program will raise money for the Early Intervention Program in San Mateo County.

Cobalt Group wins award from auto trade pub

The Cobalt Group, a Redwood City marketer serving the retail automotive industry, said its online Dealix division was honored as the "Platinum Award Winner" in the 2007 Auto Dealer Monthly’s "Dealer’s Choice Awards." Auto Dealer Monthly is a trade publication.

Yahoo to sell ads on publishers’ mobile Web sites

Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) plans to sell ads on the sites of mobile Internet publishers starting next quarter to gain a foothold in that advertising market. Publishers in 19 countries will be able to display sponsored text links, graphical ads, video spots and in-game promotions, executives said. Initial partners include video provider MobiTV Inc.
