Twenty-year-old man shot in face on Bayview Muni train 

A 20-year-old man was shot in the face while riding a southbound Muni vehicle in the Bayview district midday Monday. Police said a verbal altercation between passengers on a Muni T-Third Street light-rail vehicle led to gunfire at 3rd Street and Palou Avenue.

The man, who lives in The City, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries after the incident, according to police.

Police shut down light-rail service to the area and traffic on Third Street between Palou and Oakdale avenues for several hours after the incident was reported at 12:21.

No description of the shooter is available at this time. Police are asking anyone with information to call the San Francisco Police Department tip-line at 415-575-4444.
