Fatal police shooting causes traffic delays in SF

An officer-involved shooting early this morning at California and Battery streets caused traffic delays in the Financial District.

The California Cable Car line was blocked at California and Battery streets at 6:53 a.m. due to police activity, and Muni sent bus shuttles as an alternative. The inbound and outbound 41-Union line was also blocked, at Sacramento and Sansome streets at 7:42 a.m. Richmond Express buses were re-routed at 8:02 a.m. due to police activity between Sansome and Front streets.

Commuters also should take extra caution and time traveling to work due to wet road conditions from overnight rainfall.

Howard Street between Third and Fourth streets was closed at 5 a.m. today through Oct. 4 for Oracle’s OpenWorld event.

Muni 8X-Bayshore Express, 9-San Bruno, 14-Mission and 29-Sunset lines had longer than usual wait times as of 6:14 a.m.

A no-injury collision occurred on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near the Third Street offramp at 8:33 a.m.
