The Sharks could be getting a little more firepower just in time for the playoffs.

According to a report by Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, 20-year-old rookie Tomas Hertl is expected to be ready to return to action in time for San Jose’s first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Kings.

Hertl, who has reportedly been skating with the team since Feb. 26, has been out since Dec. 19 and had surgery to repair the PCL and MCL in his right knee on Dec. 31.

Hertl took the NHL by storm in his first 35 games, scoring 15 goals and tallying 10 assists before the injury occurred.

The Sharks have a pair of regular-season games remaining — at home against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday and Saturday at the Phoenix Coyotes — before the playoffs kick off next week.
