SFSU tops nation in enrollment of international students

SanFrancisco State University enrolls more international students than any master’s degree-granting university in the nation, the school announced Monday. Statistics for the 2006-07 academic year came from the Institute of International Education, which ranked SFSU No. 1 for a third straight year.

According to the university, 2,496 international students were enrolled during the 2006-2007 academic year, a 23.8 increase in enrollment from the previous academic year.

International students have come from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, China, Mexico, Hong Kong and India and are predominantly enrolled in business programs.

Foreign students also enroll in computer science, biology, psychology, engineering and cinema, according to SFSU. About 29,000 students are enrolled at the university.
