SFPUC remains on hot seat

The Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee indicated Wednesday it will devote an upcoming hearing to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s five-year plan, amid continued concerns that the agency is not delivering on a contract with an energy provider to establish CleanPowerSF.

On Tuesday, some board members attempted to put on hold all of the SFPUC’s legislative items until a contract was finalized. Supporters of CleanPower are hoping to have a contract finalized before the June 8 election, where PG&E has placed on the ballot a measure that would make it — perhaps impossible — for municipalities to establish such programs, as it would require a two-thirds vote for formation.
