SFPD asking for public's help in sexual assault case 

Police are searching for a black 4-door Volkswagen Golf who’s occupants may have been involved in a sexual assault of a 25-year-old woman early morning Aug. 7.

The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 when the victim, standing at the corner of Van Ness and California streets, was approached by three Hispanic males in their car.

The victim reportedly agreed to ride with the suspects back to her hotel in the South of Market District. At one point, the victim attempted to get out of the car, but was pulled back in by one of the three suspects and the driver sped off. She was dragged for a short distance and taken an area near Cesar Chavez and Highway 101 and sexually assaulted, according to police.

The suspects told the victim they were from San Jose, celebrating one of their 18th birthdays.

The three suspects are described as males between the ages of 18 and 25.

One went by the name Oscar, is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds. He was wearing a dark baseball hat and dark t-shirt. Another by the name of Johnny, was about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He was described as wearing an olive green button-down shirt and had dark hair with a fade-like cut. The third suspect, and driver of the vehicle, is described as “heavy set” with dark wavy hair.

The victim suffered injuries to her feet, legs and neck.

Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying these suspects. Those with information are asked to call Inspector Sidney Laws or Lt. Dan Leydon at 553-1361.
