SF visitors' bureau gets 100K Facebook fans

It turns out San Francisco is a pretty popular city, at least by Facebook standards.

Following in the footsteps of its tech-savvy mayor, the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, the chief cheerleader for The City, recently announced it has reached 100,000 fans on its Facebook page.

The bureau, which is mainly funded by city-collected hotel taxes, opened a Facebook account in March, meaning it took just over six months for it to hit the 100,000 mark.

The organization is also on Twitter, although it may be a while before it celebrates six-figure status on that social networking site.

Currently, it has just 3,200 followers.
