S.F. suffers bloody weekend

A shooting Monday capped a bloody weekend in San Francisco that included four other shootings and one stabbing, but no fatalities.

The spate of unconnected violent incidents over the weekend and into this week kept police officers busy from Saturday morning through Sunday night and landed at least six people in the hospital.

At about 1:45 p.m. Monday, a drive-by shooting near Jefferson Square left an 18-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. The victim was standing on the street when the suspect shot at him from a vehicle, according to police.

Just after midnight Saturday, a 25-year-old woman shot another woman of about the same age after an argument in the Potrero Hill neighborhood. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

At about 1 a.m. Saturday, a 57-year-old man was shot in the leg as he stood in front of the Sunnydale housing project at Blythedale Avenue and Santos Street. He was also taken to San Francisco General Hospital in stable condition.

Saturday night saw more violence as two men were shot in front of a Kragen Auto Parts store at Third Avenue and Geary Boulevard. In what police suspect was a gang-related attack stemming from an earlier conflict, at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday a man, described as a black male in his 20s, jumped out of a van and shot two other black males, both in their 20s, before driving off, according to police. One victim suffered life-threatening injuries and the other suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday, at about 1:45 a.m., a stabbing at the intersection of Mason Street and Geary Boulevard left one victim in critical condition. Police did not provide further details in that case.

Later on Sunday, at about 10 p.m., an 18-year-old male was shot at the intersection of Westpoint and Middlepoint roads. Police indicated that the victim was uncooperative. No suspect has been identified. The department’s gang task force is investigating the case.
