S.F. State hoopsters pay visit to Pomerey Center

Members of the San Francisco State men's basketball team spent time in the community Thursday, entertaining 60 people at the Janet Pomerey Center in The City.

The Pomerey Center, a nonprofit founded in 1952, provides theapeutic recreaction, vocational rehabilitation, child and adult development, and respite care programs for children and adults with disabilities.

Gators players played some pickup basketball games and also were involved playing games, dancing and interacting with center members.

"S.F. State provides volunteers to us year round and this is another way that the university is involved in the community," said Patrick Sayres, director of development for the Pomerey Center. "Coach Bill Treseler approached me about this idea of the Gators coming over for an afternoon of basketball and I thought it was a great idea."
