SF second-best place in state for business

San Francisco is the second-best place in California to do business, according to a new study.

The study by Market Watch surveyed cities with a population greater than 500,000 people and ranked San Francisco as the 31st best place in the nation to conduct business. In the state, the only city that ranked higher was San Jose; it ranked 25th nationally.

Washington, D.C., ranked as the top place in the nation for business, followed by Boston and Des Moines, Iowa.

The survey, which included 102 cities in the nation, uses 15 criteria to rank the cities. The items fall into two categories: economic stability and company concentration, according to Market Watch.

Two California cities also landed on the bottom of the list. Riverside and Fresno were scored at the bottom for the best places in the nation to do business.
