SF schools to reopen Friday after closing for storm

Public schools in San Francisco are expected to reopen Friday after closing Thursday in anticipation of the biggest storm to hit the region in five years.

Additionally, The City’s Catholic schools, City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University will reopen Friday following closures Thursday, various school officials said.

SFSU experienced minor damage from the storm, including fallen branches, clogged drains and a window that popped out, but overall the storm impact was "by far" much less than the school anticipated, SFSU President Leslie Wong said.

The last time the San Francisco Unified School District closed schools was on Sept. 11, 2001.
