Police on Friday night detained two people of interest in connection with the human remains found on a San Francisco street Wednesday, according to police.

One person covered with a white sheet was seen being escorted by police out of 430 Turk St. in the Tenderloin about 8:30 p.m. and placed in a police car.

Police would only confirm that both people were detained after a tip led them to the 400 block of Turk Street.

"This is the hottest lead we have on the case," said Officer Grace Gatpandan. Earlier Friday, police released surveillance footage and a description of a person of interest in the case.

The case was first reported Wednesday after police closed 11th Street between Market and Mission streets in South of Market after reports of a suspicious package. Body parts were later found in a suitcase and the area surrounding the suitcase, according to police.

It was initially unclear whether the remains of belonged to more than one person until the Medical Examiner’s Office reported earlier Friday that it was the body of one man.
