These are excerpts from the San Francisco Police Department's daily log of activities. Incidents are listed by police precincts and the neighborhoods they patrol.

Central

Financial District, Nob Hill, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill

Rapist didn’t run: A construction worker at an apartment building on the 600 block of Hyde Street at 8:50 a.m. Oct. 11 started his day by sexually assaulting a tenant. He was still inside the building when officers arrested him.

Tenderloin

Tenderloin, bordered by Geary, Market and Larkin streets

Heroin sales: Plainclothesmen were on Leavenworth and Turk streets Oct. 6 where they observed a man making narcotics transactions. They found him in possession of several bags of heroin and a large stash of money. He was booked on narcotics charges.

Park

Cole Valley, Haight, Castro, Twin Peaks, Panhandle

Hippie Hill hustle: Plainclothesmen were in the area of Hippie Hill above Haight Street at 12:20 p.m. Oct. 2 when they saw a familiar dope-seller who was wanted on a warrant. As soon as he saw the officers, he started walking away, leaving his backpack behind. They arrested him for the warrant. Upon searching the backpack, they found narcotics packaged for sale, and he was off to jail.

Bayview

ayview, Hunters Point

Gunman grabbed: Police responded to Keith Street and Thomas Avenue on a report of a man brandishing a firearm at 2:40 p.m. Oct. 13. A resident gave the police a description of the gunman’s car and it was found on the 1600 block of Oakdale Avenue with two people standing outside it. When officers closed in, the suspects went inside a house. The police knocked at the door and recognized that one of the occupants was on active felony probation.

A search of the house revealed a handgun in the backyard. The gun appeared to have been placed there very recently, because it did not have any dirt or debris on it. The victim identified the man brandishing the gun, and he was arrested on weapons and probation violations.
