S.F. Police Blotter: Neighborhood crime log 

These are excerpts from the San Francisco Police Department's daily log of activities. Incidents are listed by police precincts and the neighborhoods they patrol.


Financial District, Nob Hill, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill

Just finishing the job: An officer spotted a suspected auto burglar near a parked vehicle with a broken window on the 1100 block of Pine Street at 1 a.m. May 8. Officers determined the suspect was a transient on probation for auto burglary. The suspect said he took a necklace from the car after seeing the broken window.


South of Market, China Basin, Embarcadero

BART stabbing: Officers and members of the BART Police Department responded to the Powell Street BART station regarding a stabbing May 3. A victim who had cuts on his head and a stab wound to his neck area was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.

Investigation revealed that the victim was in a dispute with four suspects near the entrance of the station. BART police detained four suspects, who were later booked. A knife was seized from the scene.


Cole Valley, Haight, Castro, Twin Peaks, Panhandle

Purse snatching: A woman was walking home after work in the area of Golden Gate and Broderick streets and talking on a cell phone at 6:25 p.m. May 5.

Two 17-year-old girls jumped her from behind. Once she was down, the girls started kicking her and demanding her cell phone and purse. The assailants were arrested.


Glen Park, Bernal Heights, Excelsior, St. Francis Wood

Armed robbery: Two masked robbers entered a grocery store on the 5200 block of Diamond Heights Boulevard at 4:15 a.m. May 3. One struck a clerk about the head as he demanded that she open the store’s safe. Shecomplied with the man’s demands. He fled with an unknown amount of money.

The second robber produced a gun and ordered two clerks to the floor. One of the clerks ran, and the gunman seized her by the hair and threw her to the floor. He then fled, too.
