S.F. Police Blotter: Neighborhood crime log 

These are excerpts from the San Francisco Police Department’s daily log of activities. Incidents are listed by police precincts and the neighborhoods they patrol.


Sunset, Parkside, portions of Golden Gate Park

Lit up: At 12:11 a.m. July 5, officers responded to Sunset Circle and Lake Merced Boulevard, where a group of individuals were setting off multiple fireworks. The officers detained a number of individuals and cited two for possession of marijuana and possession of medicine without a prescription.


Financial District, Nob Hill, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill

Stocked with stolen goods: At 6 p.m. July 4 on the 1500 block of Jones Street, officers responded to a call of a suspicious person in a parked vehicle. The officers detained a man who said he pulled over to sleep. They found the vehicle to be reported stolen and a search revealed three license plates, tools, backpacks, laptops, CDs, camerasand other property. The man was booked on suspicion of stolen vehicle and possession of stolen property.


Bayview, Hunters Point

Erratic driving: Officers were driving at 10:45 a.m. July 1 on McKinnon Avenue at Third Street when they saw a vehicle driving erratically on McKinnon. The officers attempted to pull the vehicle over using their lights and sirens, but the driver refused to pull over at first and continued to swerve all over the road. When stopped, the suspect told officers he was driving erratically because he was going to run out of gas. Officers searched him and found suspected narcotics in his pant leg.


Excelsior, St. Francis Wood, Glen Park, Bernal Heights

Threat on officer: Officers located a motorist who had been seen driving recklessly through the Excelsior district at 2:30 p.m. July 3. The 40-year-old Excelsior district man was charged with being drunk in public. He also was charged with threatening an officer and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Armed robbery: At 11:35 p.m. July 3, a woman was accosted by a gunman as she placed her children in her car on the 200 block of Chenery Street. The man demanded her money and took her purse.


South of Market, China Basin, Embarcadero

Auto boost: At 8:40 p.m. July 1 in the 100 block of 10th Street an officer responded to an auto boost that had just occurred. The officer found a man a few blocks away and detained him. The witness positively identified the suspect who was later booked at county jail for auto burglary.
