S.F. Police Blotter: Neighborhood crime log 

These are excerpts from the San Francisco Police Department’s daily log of activities. Incidents are listed by police precincts and the neighborhoods they patrol.

Bayview

Bayview, Hunters Point

Demanding money: At 3:22 p.m. July 12, officers were flagged down by residents on Silver and San Bruno avenues regarding a fight. A man told them that he had been walking when two unknown people came up behind him and demanded money. The victim told the suspects he did not have any, and the suspects began to beat him. A witness pulled one of the suspects off of the man. The suspects were taken into custody.

Richmond

Richmond, most of Golden Gate Park

Call for help: At 10:55 p.m. July 8, officers responded toa report of a theft at 30th Avenue and Geary Boulevard. A woman told the officers that she had been on a Muni bus traveling west on Geary. The suspects, three male youths, got on after her and positioned themselves near the rear door, which is where the woman was sitting.

As the bus stopped at 28th Avenue and Geary, one of the youths grabbed the woman’s cell phone from her hand and all ran off the bus. The bus driver heard the woman call out for help and tried to follow the suspects, but lost sight of them.

Taraval

Sunset, Parkside, portions of Golden Gate Park

Trespassing: At 6:16 a.m. July 13, officers responded to Vidal Drive, where two men had been spotted trespassing and damaging property in the area. One suspect was taken into custody, but the other ran away toward Brotherhood Way and later was captured.

After an investigation, the suspects were arrested for trespassing, a malicious mischief warrant and interfering with an officer’s investigation.

Ingleside

Glen Park, Bernal Heights, Excelsior, St. Francis Wood

Check again: At 4:50 p.m. July 9 on the 200 block of Desmond Street, officers arrested a 51-year-old Visitacion Valley man in front of his home when he tried to drive away in a stolen car. The car had been purchased with a bad check on the 3400 block of Cesar Chavez Street.

Tenderloin

Tenderloin, bordered by Geary, Market and Larkin streets

Attack and grab: On July 5, patrol officers were flagged down by a man who stated that two men had walked up to him and punched him in the face and, when he fell to the ground, the men took money out of his pockets. The officers and the man drove around and the victim pointed out the suspects. The officers arrested the men for robbery.
