No New Year’s bang: A man at the New Year’s event on The Embarcadero was pointing to another man and told nearby officers, "That guy has a gun and he’s gonna shoot me." Officers monitoring the event jumped out of the patrol car and detained the suspect, who had a loaded handgun in his jacket pocket. The suspect was arrested and the handgun was in police custody. The fireworks show and New Year’s Eve event continued.

Alleged knifing: A woman was found at a residential hotel on Mission Street on Dec. 20 bleeding from a gash on her head. Dreaming away: A driver was sleeping behind the wheel with his car parked illegally on Market Street on Dec. 22. Officers checked on the driver and discovered that the driver had a warrant for his arrest as well as a crack pipe on his lap and a rock of crack cocaine under his seat.

Chased down: A person who had just witnessed an auto boost flagged down officers in Natoma Alley on Dec. 29. The witness told the officers that the suspect was still on Natoma Street walking away from the scene. An officer saw the suspect and ordered him to stop, but the suspect started to run away. One officer chased the suspect. The suspect was found a short distance away hiding inside a garbage can.
