S.F. Police Blotter: Neighborhood crime log 

These are excerpts from the San Francisco Police Department’s daily log of activities. Incidents are listed by police precincts and the neighborhoods they patrol.

Northern

Pacific Heights, Marina, Japantown, Polk Gulch

Purse snatcher: Officers responded to the 1900 block of Lombard Street at 1:30 a.m. Feb. 1 regarding a man who tried to take a purse off a bar stool. As the officers approached the subject, the subject walked away and discarded an object behind a flower box. The officers retrieved credit cards from behind the box. The officers contacted the credit card companies and found that some cards were stolen. Narcotics paraphernalia was also found on the subject, who was placed under arrest and booked.

Bayview

Bayview, Hunters Point

Car break-in: A resident flagged down officers patrolling the parking lot of the Franciscan Hotel on Jan. 31 and told them his car had been broken into. Another witness advised one officer that the suspect was currently standing on the Muni platform at Third Street and Le Conte Avenue. Officers detained two suspects. The victim’s property was found on the suspects by officers who placed both under arrest.

Taraval

Sunset, Parkside, portions of Golden Gate Park

Knee-jerk reaction: Officers responded to a case in which a man had thrown his girlfriend to the ground, injuring her kneecap on the 1400 block of 24th Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 8. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

Southern

South of Market, China Basin, Embarcadero

Beer bust: Officers in the area of Sixth and Stevenson streets Jan. 27 saw a male walking on the sidewalk with an open container of beer. They detained him and determined that he was a sex registrant in violation of his registrant order. He was booked at county jail.

Smoke signals: Officers on Market Street on Feb. 1 observed a group of young men smoking marijuana. They detained the group and found marijuana and 121 Ecstasy pills in one of the subjects’ pockets. The subject also had a large amount of money in his possession. He was booked at county jail.
