S.F. Police Blotter: Neighborhood crime log 

These are excerpts from the San Francisco Police Department's daily log of activities. Incidents are listed by police precincts and the neighborhoods they patrol.

Northern

Pacific Heights, Marina, Japantown, Polk Gulch

Burglary in progress: Officers responded to the 1600 block of Bush Street regarding a burglary in progress at 6:20 a.m. March 1. They found a broken window in the back, set up a perimeter and began searching the building. When they arrived on the third floor, they found items on the landing. The officers identified themselves, and the suspect ran out the front door and was detained. Items taken from the apartment were found on the suspect. The suspect was arrested.

Central

Financial District, Nob Hill, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill

Suspected arson: Officers responded to a call of an arson fire in an apartment building on the 1000 block of Post Street at 6:40 a.m. March 5. The Fire Department told an officer that they entered the building and smelled a chemical substance and saw the suspect flee. Two canisters of a suspected accelerant were found inside an oven that had been turned on. Occupants were evacuated. An officer found the suspect at Polk and Post streets and took him into custody.

Bayview

Bayview, Hunters Point

Batted down: Officers responded to the area of Quint Street and Bayshore Boulevard at 7:15 p.m. March 7 regarding a man being assaulted by other men with a bat. Officers on scene observed one man on the ground, bleeding. Officers detained several subjects. Two were arrested.

Richmond

Richmond, most of Golden Gate Park

Garage sale: On the 3500 block of Jackson Street on March 1, a resident of an apartment building saw a person who matched the description of a suspect who had been seen leaving the apartment’s garage the week before with the tenant’s suitcases. The resident contacted the police, along with the witness to the prior incident. The witness from the previous incident identified the suspect. The 38-year-old male on parole was charged with burglary.
