S.F. Police Blotter: Neighborhood crime log 

These are excerpts from the San Francisco Police Department's daily log of activities. Incidents are listed by police precincts and the neighborhoods they patrol.

Central

Financial District, Nob Hill, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill

A find: While looking for stolen property, police officers stumbled upon a different kind of stash. Police went to the scene of a burglary near Pioneer Park on the 300 block of Greenwich Street at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 14 in an attempt to locate stolen property.

While doing so, they came across two homeless individuals who had established an encampment in the park and found numerous small bags of marijuana packaged for sale. After his arrest, the man quite readily admitted that it was his job to sell the marijuana. Interestingly, he even stated, "I owe a guy $600 for that."

Resident’s assistance: Police received a call from a resident who was reportedly tailing a person who had broken into a car. Officers received the call from the 1000 block of Sutter Street and responded. After picking up the caller, the officers searched the area for the suspect.

With the witness’ assistance, the suspect was spotted entering a beauty salon on Geary Street. Officers took the suspect into custody and later determined that he was already on active parole.

Bayview

Bayview, Hunters Point

Got the gun: Officers responded to a call of a security guard detaining a person who had a gun at Oakdale Avenue and Griffith Street at 10:36 p.m. Dec. 10. The officers met with the guard who stated that they heard the police radio traffic that a robbery had just occurred in the Mission district.

A car description was broadcast, and the security guards spotted a car that matched the description. They stopped the car, detained the occupants and found a .40-caliber pistol on the floor. They alerted the police, who took custody of the suspects and the gun.

Ingleside

Glen Park, Bernal Heights, Excelsior, St. Francis Wood

Home alone: A real estate agent found trespassers inside a client’s building on the100 block of Ney Street at 12:39 p.m. Dec. 12. Officers investigated and arrested a San Francisco couple, both 30 years old, for fraud and narcotics charges.
