SF Performances rolls out musical new season 

San Francisco Performances recently announced its 32nd season, which features commissions and debuts in recitals, chamber music, contemporary dance and jazz programs running Oct. 13 through May 30, 2012.

Highlights include soprano Karita Mattila in her local recital debut on Dec. 6; pianist Leif Ove Andsnes playing works by Chopin and Debussy on Feb. 9; acclaimed choreographer Wayne McGregor’s Random Dance on Nov. 11-12; Russian-American composer Lera Auerbach collaborating on the piano with cellist Alisa Weilerstein and soprano Lina Tetriani on March 13; and the Alexander String Quartet celebrating its 30th anniversary with a commission by composer-pianist Jake Heggie and performance by mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato on Feb. 4.

The season’s benefit gala featuring soprano Leah Crocetto is Oct. 14.

Performances are in the Herbst Theatre and other locations. Subscriptions are on sale now; single tickets go on sale Aug. 22.
