SF man pleads no contest in shooting at college

A 20-year-old man who was allegedly carrying a gun during a shooting at San Bruno's Skyline College has struck a deal with prosecutors.

The San Mateo County district attorney's office says Eric Brewer was released from jail Tuesday after pleading no contest to one count of possessing a gun in a public place in exchange for having other charges dropped.

Brewer was shot in the buttocks in a parking lot of Skyline College in San Bruno on Sept. 2 during a confrontation with suspected gang members. The shooting forced the school to be locked down and evacuated.

He was later arrested after police say they found evidence he had a gun on him.

Prosecutors say he must serve three years probation and is banned from returning to the campus.

Police are still seeking the men who shot him.
