SF man attacked in Mission district, suffers severe head wounds 

A 45-year-old San Francisco man suffered severe head and face wounds after he was assaulted in the Mission early Monday morning.

The victim was reportedly involved in an argument with another man in the 100 block of Capp Street about 7:30 a.m., police said. The argument soon turned physical and the victim was punched several times before falling to the ground.

The suspect in the assault then stomped on the victim's head several times until he lost consciousness.

The suspect was taken into custody 15 minutes later at 16th and Folsom streets, police said. He was identified as Darren Cubie, 38.

He has was booked on attempted murder charges, police said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and is in stable condition.
