SF man arrested in connection with collision that killed Chinatown pedestrian

A 40-year-old San Francisco man has been arrested in connection with a fatal collision with a female pedestrian in San Francisco's Chinatown neighborhood, police said.

Calixto Dilinila was arrested and booked into county jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and failing to yield to a pedestrian, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Shortly before 10 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle collision near the intersection of Stockton and Sacramento streets in the vicinity of the Stockton Tunnel, Esparza said.

Emergency crews responded to the area and declared the pedestrian, described as an Asian woman, dead at the scene, according to Esparza. KTVU reported the victim as 78-year-old Pei Fong Yim, whose family held a memorial ceremony at the crash site Saturday evening.

The Stockton Tunnel and the impacted intersection were blocked following the collision, Esparza said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
