  • A San Francisco man was reported missing early Wednesday on Mt. Tamalpais, which can be seen in the background, after failing to return home from a jog in Marin County on Tuesday night.

A San Francisco man who was reported missing after failing to return home after jogging in Marin County on Tuesday night was located by authorities Wednesday morning.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office sent a message via Twitter at 8 a.m. Wednesday saying, “Missing subject located, spent night on mountain ,returned to his own vehicle on his own, being medically cleared.”

Earlier Wednesday, KNTV reported that search-and-rescue crews were searching for 33-year-old Nathan Wilson.

Wilson was running on Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County Tuesday night.

Just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, the mountain is peppered with redwood groves and oak woodlands with a sweeping view from the 2,571-foot peak.

Marin Municipal Water District Senior Ranger Phil Johnson says Wilson’s fiancée called authorities at 2 a.m. Wednesday after the man did not return home.
