Sex offender’s depravities catch up to him after hit-and-run

His sordid past appeared well behind him — namely his 1997 conviction for jumping out of bushes buck naked onto jogging trails in San Mateo County and frightening female runners, prosecutors said.

But then Ignace Rothschild, 50, was accused in a minor hit-and-run collision in Burlingame last year, and now his past has come back to haunt him.

After the accident, Rothschild was followed by the other driver to his Eucalyptus Avenue residence in Hillsborough, authorities said. Cops came and said they learned he was living in Hillsborough but did not register as a sex registrant. Now he’s facing misdemeanor charges for failing to do so, prosecutors said.

Rothschild’s case was set for a pretrial conference Monday at 1:30 p.m. in South San Francisco, prosecutors said. A jury trial is slated for September, they said. Rothschild is out of custody on $10,000 bail.
