Settlement in fallen branch death comes before supes

The Board of Supervisors is expected to close the books on a high-profile legal matter Tuesday.

A $650,000 settlement between The City and the parents of a woman who was killed by a falling tree branch in Stern Grove will be voted upon.

On April 14, 2008, Kathleen Bolton, 50, was returning to her car in the parking lot after walking her dogs when she was fatally struck by a redwood branch. Her parents, Bernard and Mildred Bolton, sued The City, a few months later, claiming the tree was a known hazard.
