Seniors to sew city images

Redwood City seniors are putting together a quilt they hope will represent the city’s past as well as present.

A project of the city’s Senior Affairs Commission, organizers are inviting elder residents to participate by contributing a quilt square. Planned squares will include different images of Redwood City, including churches, the farmers market, hospitals and parks.

Each square will be 10 by 10 inches, and organizers said they plan to make a two-sided quilt that is 6 feet by 7 feet.

The quilt will be a gift to Redwood City, and will be entered in a competition in the San Mateo County Fair. It will also be shown at the Redwood Senior Center. To participate, call (650) 780-7276.
