Senator ‘Ma'am’: Don’t Ask Don’t Tell means the U.S. military ’stands with’ Iran and North Korea

Regardless of what you think about the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (DADT) debate, I think we can all agree that whenever Sen. Boxer, D-Calif., opens her mouth on controversial matters she often makes things worse:

“We now stand with this rule with countries like Iran, North Korea and Pakistan in banning gays and lesbians from military service,” said Boxer. “Our brave young men and women fight alongside allies like Australia, the United Kingdom and others who allow gays and lesbians to serve openly. Let’s not stand with Pakistan and with North Korea and Iran.”

First off, I know critics of DADT will grouse I’m splitting hairs, but just to make a rhetorical point, but with DADT we don’t actually ban gays from serving. We just make them keep their sexuality to themselves. Disagreeing with this policy is understandable, but that doesn’t warrant a comparison with Iran, which is run by a regime that executes homosexuals. In fact, I’d say by drawing such extreme comparisons, Senator Boxer stands with Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

Just kidding, Babs!
