Second man arrested in suspended San Pablo cop case also faces drug charges

The second man arrested in connection with the arrest of a suspended San Pablo cop was identified by police as Timothy French, 57, and also booked on drug-related charges, Officer Albie Esparza said Tuesday.

Kenneth White, 32, of San Pablo was arrested last week along with French, a San Francisco resident, during an alleged drug transaction in South of Market, Esparza said. San Pablo police had reportedly tipped off San Francisco police to the deal. White's 2-year-old daughter was in the car with him during the arrest.

White was reportedly in his car at Seventh and Howard streets about 2:30 p.m. April 8 when French reportedly came up to the car and sold White cocaine and heroin, Esparza said.

White was arraigned Friday on one felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, two felony counts of carrying a loaded firearm, one count of child endangerment, and two misdemeanor charges of possession of cocaine salt and heroin. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges, according to the District Attorney's Office.

French was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation and sale of a controlled substance, possession of a deadly weapon and a probation violation, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The District Attorney's Office moved to revoke his probation last week and he is scheduled to return to court Friday, Assistant District Attorney Alex Bastian said. He is currently in custody on no-bail status.

White's child was taken into protective custody until a family member was able to retrieve her, Esparza said.

White remains on paid administrative leave as an internal investigation is ongoing, San Pablo Cmdr. Gene Alameda said. Once the investigation is done, the department will move forward with a decision on White's future status with the department.
