SD deputy slightly injured when car is rammed

A San Diego County Sheriff's deputy was slightly injured when his cruiser was rammed by a car driven by a suspect he tried to pull over.

Sgt. Curt Goldberg says the deputy attempted to stop a white Honda with false registration Friday in Santee. The Honda initially yielded, but as the deputy got out of his car the suspect reversed and rammed the cruiser.

Goldberg tells City News Service the impact caused the patrol car's door to open against the deputy, which caused minor injuries.

After a brief car chase the driver of the Honda was arrested as he tried to flee on foot.

Goldberg says more than an ounce of methamphetamine was found in the Honda.

The suspect, 41-year-old Jeffrey Wright, was booked into jail for suspicion of felony assault on a deputy and possession of a controlled substance.
