Scoop: Ring sparks engagement buzz

It would appear that Lindsay Lohan loves to keep us guessing. The starlet won’t come right out — no pun intended — and discuss her much-speculated-about relationship with Samantha Ronson. But between their matching tattoos, talk of house-hunting and a bauble spotted on a certain finger, inquiring minds have concluded they must be a couple.

LiLo recently showed off a new star tattoo to a Marie Claire reporter, saying, “Samantha has a bunch of stars, so I got that” — then pointed out a heart tattoo and added, “She got this.” (She also mentioned that she’s looking for a house “with someone.” Mm-hmm.)

And at a party for the magazine Wednesday night, the “Mean Girls” star was rocking a heart-shaped ring on her left ring finger — arousing speculation that she and her DJ gal pal might be engaged.

Some tabloids have even speculated that the couple are talking about having a baby — Star claims Sam’s brother Mark is in line to be the sperm donor.

Marriage? Babies? Slow down here. Could we just get a confirmation that they’re dating in the first place?

Britney: Stronger

Fine, she didn’t actually perform at the VMAs … but Britney Spears’ appearance Sunday night was hailed as a triumphant comeback for the once-tragic pop icon who famously flailed onstage last year. So now that she’s back on top of her game — or, at least, getting there — what’s next for our plucky tabloid heroine?

For starters, there’s her forthcoming album, which OK! reports is due in late December. “It’s my best work ever,” Britney proudly tells the magazine.

And the mom of two is getting her personal life back on track, too. “Her goal is to regain joint custody of her sons as soon as her dad Jamie’s status as her conservator ends,” a source told the magazine.

Britney even seems to have mended fences with ex-husband Kevin Federline. On Wednesday, after their two boys had their very first play date with their new cousin, Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter Maddie, K-Fed personally came to Brit’s Studio City pad to pick them up — and hung out with the Spearses for an hour, People reports.

Memo to Lifetime producers: This family is some primo TV-movie material right here!

Amy’s Hideaway

Maybe Amy Winehouse really is trying to get her life together. The hard-partying songstress, a fixture at London bars, is reportedly trying to create a healthier environment for herself by getting away to the country.

Although we can’t exactly picture her as a lady of the manor, the U.K.’s Sun says the singer is in talks to buy a 150-year-old farmhouse in a small British village, where she could escape from the pressures and temptations of the city.

“It is a really quiet, hidden spot where she would be away from the chaos of her life in London and could concentrate properly on getting her life back on track again,” a source explained to the paper.

You know what else would be a quiet retreat? Rehab.

Party Guy

Far from the glitz of Hollywood, Guy Ritchie had a low-key 40th birthday celebration befitting a regular, ahem, guy. Accompanied by his wife (what’s her name again? Oh, right, Madonna), the “RocknRolla” director made merry at his local pub in Mayfair, England, on Wednesday night.

Granted, there were a couple of other bold-face names present, like Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler, and Liza Minnelli’s ex David Gest. (Both more famous for their marriages than their careers — coincidence?)

While the Material Mom left with the kiddies around 10 p.m., Guy got his groove on until 4 a.m. What kind of wild partying ensued?

Well, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reports that the merry guests belted out such hot tracks as “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary.”

Yikes. No wonder Madonna left early.
