Scoop! Paris is sentenced to 3 years’ probation

Paris Hilton will have to rein in her jet-set ways for the next three years. That’s how long the heiress has been sentenced to probation, following a September DUI incident.

The 25-year-old pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving, a lesser charge than the original of driving under the influence (uh, there’s a difference?). Along with probation, Paris was slapped with a whopping $390 fee, which is probably less than she spends on a tank top.

Meanwhile, BFF Nicole Richie’s fate after her own DUI arrest in November is still up in the air. One more strike for either of these two ladies, and next season we could be watching "The Simple Life: Women’s Prison."

Jared Lashes Out

Actor Jared Leto flew off the handle Saturday night at the Sundance Film Festival when a paparazzo at club Tao tried to snap his picture, according to the New York Post. Jared reportedly shouted, "No! No more, bro!" and started to storm out — and then a club patron pulled his hair.

Bad move. A witness said Jared "stepped up to the guy" and they started "yelling at each other." The 30 Seconds from Mars frontman left but reportedly returned later in search of his adversary.

The next night found Jared storming out of the very same club, reports the New York Daily News, when he got wind that fellow Cameron Diaz ex Justin Timberlake might be performing.

Jared’s purpose at Sundance was to promote his controversial film "Chapter 27," in which he portrays John Lennon’s assassin, Mark David Chapman. We’re not sure that he really grasps the whole concept of "promotion."

Moore Than Meets the Eye

Actress Mandy Moore may seem to lead a charmed life: She achieved pop stardom young, crossed over to movies easily, and has dated a series of high-profile hunks, the latest apparently being Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein. But Mandy reveals in Jane magazine’s February issue that things are not always so rosy.

"A few months ago, I felt really low, really sad," the "Saved!" star confesses. "Depressed for no reason. I’m a very positive person, and I’ve always been glass half-full. So it was like someone flipped a switch in me."

The 22-year-old may have hit albums and films under her belt, but she’s still discovering herself: "I’ve been going through this really crazy time in my life — it’s what I imagine people fresh out of college go through. I’m asking myself life-altering questions like, ‘Who am I? Where doI fit in this world?’"

Opening up in print is just the beginning for this talented and self-described "control freak," who declares, "I want to live up to my full potential. I’ve always been really shy, very ‘Don’t look at me.’ I’ve wanted to hide. But now I don’t want to hide."

Mandy’s already evolved so much as an artist and a woman — we can’t wait to see how much more she’s capable of.

Brad’s Stripper Tip

Lindsay Lohan isn’t the only celeb with an admiration for the pole-dancing profession. "Strippers changed my life," megastar Brad Pitt announced Monday at Newsweek magazine’s Academy Awards roundtable.

Playing chauffeur to the adult entertainers was one of the "Babel" star’s early means of employment, he explained: "My job was to drive them to bachelor parties and things. I’d pick them up, and at the gig I’d collect the money, play the bad Prince tapes and catch the girls’ clothes. It was not a wholesome atmosphere, and it got very depressing."

But the gig had an upside: One of the strippers happened to recommend an acting class. Brad "went and checked it out," he recalls, "and it really set me on the path to where I am now." The rest is history.
