Scoop: Bradley, Renee may be heading down the aisle

Things are getting serious between Renee Zellweger and Bradley Cooper. The pair spent quality time with his parents during the holidays, and apparently they approved of the union — since now comes word that the couple may be headed down the aisle.

Though he’s only been dating the “Bridget Jones” star since summer, “Bradley has fast-tracked the romance and he’s ready to get married,” an insider told In Touch magazine.

The “Hangover” star used a recent trip to NYC to go ring shopping, the source said: “He already has a setting he likes, but he visited various jewelers on 47th Street, including I. Friedman & Son, to look for a stone.”

As for the proposal, it’s likely to be swoon-inducing, the insider said: “He is old-fashioned. He’ll probably get down on one knee and propose in a romantic setting — and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was on Valentine’s Day.”

Considering Renee’s first wedding, to Kenny Chesney, took place after the couple had dated only six weeks — and the marriage lasted just four months — we’re thinking she might want to take things a little slower this time.

Stress Killed Brittany?

Simon Monjack has a new theory about the death of his wife, 32-year-old Brittany Murphy: The film industry was responsible. The controversial figure told The Daily Beast that he’s filing a wrongful death suit against Warner Bros. for firing the actress, having convinced himself the stress of that experience caused a fatal heart attack. “They killed her,” Simon said.

The widower, who was Brittany’s minder on film sets during their marriage, said the actress was let go from the sequel to the animated “Happy Feet” due to rumors about her and Simon being difficult and sometimes drunk on the Puerto Rico set of “The Caller,” from which she also had been fired and replaced.

“The reports about the Puerto Rican set are fantasy,” Simon said. “I was never, ever drunk there. What I did do was demand they follow union rules, and after she had worked 12-hour days, six days a week, that she get the breaks she was entitled to. I was ‘difficult’ because I was the enforcer to protect Brittany.”

Hollywood is “a cruel town,” Simon said. “Warner Brothers relied on conjecture and hearsay about the Puerto Rico film for why they canceled Brittany’s role in ‘Happy Feet.’ You’re disposable as an actress or actor.”

That may be true — but to say that caused her death ...

Retreat or Rehab?

Shortly after checking out of a hospital where she was treated for pneumonia, Charlie Sheen’s wife, Brooke Mueller, checked into a rehab facility — but though the Two Dreams Outer Banks center specializes in drug and alcohol treatment, her lawyer insists she’s only there to continue convalescing.

“She is in North Carolina with her mom for some R-and-R pursuant to doctor’s orders,” her attorney said on “Entertainment Tonight.”
Radar Online, however, claimed the mother of twins is being treated for addiction, and her substance dependency had gotten so bad that pals attempted to sneak her drugs while she was hospitalized for pneumonia.

“After her friends tried to bring her drugs in the hospital we felt we had to get her out of L.A.,” an insider said. “And she didn’t put up a fight.”

Well, we’re happy to hear Brooke is getting the, er, rest she needs.
