School custodian’s body found in parking lot

The dead body of a 49-year-old female night custodian for the school district was found in the parking lot outside a Van Ness building early Wednesday morning.

The death at this point is not considered suspicious, according to San Francisco Police Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Mannina.

The woman has been identified as Shui La Cheang, according to an official with the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, who said an examination of Cheang’s body will take place today or tomorrow.

The building at 135 Van Ness Ave. is owned by the San Francisco Unified School District, which uses it for administrative offices.

According to district spokeswoman Gentle Blythe, another employee found the body — which had no visible signs of trauma — at approximately 6 a.m.

The district is adding security to the building "whilewe’re waiting for findings to be conclusive," Blythe said.
