Save the Whales call growing

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday to Save the Whales.

Introduced by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, the resolution sends the message to not lift a ban on commercial whaling. A big rally is planned for Sunday on the steps of City Hall as other coastal counties will hold similar events. The rally starts at noon.

“People from across California will call on President Obama to protect the ban on commercial whaling,” advocates said in a statement. “President Obama is supporting new policy to lift the ban on commercial whaling altogether. This California day of action is to call on the president to keep the ban on whaling intact and strengthen regulations in the IWC.”
