San Mateo County court praised by state legislature

San Mateo County Superior Court has been presented with a joint resolution from the California State Legislature commending it for its innovative programs.

Assemblymembers Gene Mullin, D-South San Francisco, Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco, Ira Ruskin, D-Los Altos, and Senators Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, and Leland Yee, D-San Mateo/San Francisco, praised the court for its commitment to treat defendants with drug and alcohol programs, as well as mental disorders, which reduces the recidivism rate, according to the court.

The resolution also congratulated the court on its EZLegalFile program and its annual Access and Fairness Surveys, which allow the public to provide feedback and suggestions to improve court services.

Presiding Judge Robert Foiles said it "is an honor for the court as well as our partner agencies - the district attorney’s office, probation, the private defender panel and local treatment providers. It is immensely rewarding to provide a wide variety of programs to assist the public and reduce recidivism."
