San Francisco State men fall short against Sonoma State

ROHNERT PARK -- Despite scoring the first 13 points of the game, the sloppy play cost the San Francisco State men's basketball team in a 55-51 loss to first-place Sonoma State on Sunday.

The Gators fell to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while Sonoma State improved to 7-1 and 4-0.

Udun Osakue led San Francisco State with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

After the Gators opened the game on a 13-0 run, Sonoma State answered with a 16-2 run of their own to grab a 16-15 lead.

"We played extremely hard this evening," said SF State head coach Paul Trevor. "We just did not execute down the stretch while our turnovers proved costly. We have to get better with handling the ball."
