San Francisco sees two more homicides over weekend 

Two more homicides were reported in San Francisco this past weekend, bringing the count up to 21 this year.

Early Friday morning, a 40-year-old Sausalito man was stabbed to death during an argument with a woman in a Tenderloin hotel room. He was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Matt Sheehan.

Sheehan was reportedly stabbed about 6:15 a.m. at a hotel in the 1000 block of Geary Street. He later died at a hospital.

Police arrested 30-year-old San Francisco resident Lisa Heng in connection with the stabbing. She is currently in custody on no-bail status.

The second homicide happened Saturday when a man was shot to death about 1:30 a.m. at 16th and Valencia streets in the Mission district.

Police said an unknown suspect walked up to the 28-year-old victim and shot him several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Benjamin Martinez of San Francisco.

No arrests in connection with Martinez's death were announced as of Monday morning.

Last year by the end of July, there had been 27 homicides recorded in The City.
