San Francisco police release photo of gun Kenneth Harding used in Bayview shootout

San Francisco police on Thursday released a photo of the gun allegedly used to fire at officers by Kenneth Harding July 16 in the Bayview District.

The AMT .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol matches bullets found in 19-year-old Harding’s head and another in his front shirt pocket, SFPD said. Harding, who was a convicted pimp and person of interest in a Seattle murder, was fired upon by two officers following a Muni fare inspection.

SFPD says Harding’s gun is the one that ultimately fired the fatal shot. The day after the shooting, police recovered a handgun they thought could have been Harding’s, but it didn’t match the bullets found later by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

A press release on the SFPD website said the gun is the same one seen in a cell phone video on YouTube taken shortly after the shooting, and that it was picked up by an individual at the crime scene.
