San Francisco Police Officers Association leadership vote heads to run-off

Long-time police union boss Gary Delagnes has some competition to hang on to his leadership post.

The Police Officers Association members vote every three years on the president of the POA. The members voted this month between Jan. 10-21. Come Saturday, however, the results were not known.

Delagnes had failed to pick up the 50 percent plus one of votes and so now a run-off vote is process. The run-off voting is expected to conclude Sunday.

Delagnes was facing off against two other candidates. Now he is in a run-off with one, Steve Landi.

Among the big issues the POA faces is the Police Commission and Mayor Ed Lee looking to find a permanent police chief.
